It all started with fish!
Hey, I'm Anthony. I grew up in rural France and from a very early age I've been used to sourcing my own food, whether at sea or on land. And I do love good food (and wine!) and what it means for its producers.
With just a windowsill for gardening when I moved to the city of London and needing fresh air, I spent my time on the incredibly rich English coast, introducing a few Englishmen to spearfishing (really not popular here!) – a very ethical and selective fishing method to get your own food!
But, even in the short period of time I've been spearfishing in England, I experienced the shocking impact of climate change to the UK seas and the impact of poor farming methods and city waste leaching to sea.
From sea to land…
A Geek by profession, I have a passion for technology – that is, the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes – so when I moved to Surrey and got a little garden, I knew I had to research and find better ways of growing food for my family without polluting our environment as I witnessed at sea, making the most of the little resources we have (soil & water) and better understand how it works to optimise growing methods.
Then, another crisis unfolded even quicker…
In 2020, for the first time since 2nd World War, more people in the West of our planet experienced and finally realised the fragility of the food production systems we now rely on and its many problems;
and I continue to be SO angry at what we each allow to happen to our planet (by where we spend our money really!) and our soils, what we allow to get into our bodies (we just signed up for another 10 years of Glyphosate in the EU…) and what we are handing down to our children- it is utter madness.
But this had been building up for decades, at a time when people didn't have the knowledge we now have;
So it's our responsibility to make this right now, to share that knowledge. And I want to be part of that, and help you too – in fact, help thousands of you.
